Cleantech Greentech Greening Camps for Europe and Africa

We are proud to announce two new Greening Camp projects. 💚

Greening Camp Egypt and Greening Camp Rwanda project development started with some awesome people from Africa. We will present the development teams this year. The goal is to finish the first stage during the summer. We will develop, promote and support education, climate, environmental awareness, healthy and sustainable living and working solutions. Together with the Billion Trees Campaigns and Tillion Trees Initiative we will reforest and revegetate man-made deserts, especially drylands and wastelands in Africa. Natural Habitats, Game Reserves, WildLife Reserves and Environmental Protection plays a very important role at Greening Deserts projects.

We will create healthy environments like natural gardens, parks and forests together with each involved region. Goals are also to restore natural landscapes like mixed forests, grasslands and wetlands – to bring back diversity, clean air and water. The Energy Storage Park for each bigger greening and research camp will guarantee clean energy supply and energy security.

Greening Camp Egypt project development started and we will present the development team until summer. We want to start with first building and joint development work until late summer. With support by the African community and African Union (AU) we can build the camp maybe even faster. The focus is on research, cleantech, renewable energy, greentech, greenhouse and water management, sustainable farming, greening and ecological forestry. Conservation, environmental protection, preservation of diversity and wildlife plays a very important role, too. We will support building new habitats and game reserves. Afforestation.org

The main goals and tasks of the project are the education and integration of the region around the camp in the conservation and greening process. We want to offer exhibitions, excursions, guided tours, training courses and seminars. Providing information about environment, culture, history, landscapes, nature, society, clean and green technologies. #Afforestation, #Camp, #Conservation, #Diversity, #CleanTech, #EcoFarming, #EcoForestry, #Egypt, #GreenTech, #SciencePark, #TrillionTrees

Energy Storage Parks for Research and Greening Camps

A new sustainable project for Greening Deserts was founded, the world’s first Energy Storage Park, Solar Park and Wind Park. The project can combine renewables, innovative energy storage solutions, clean and green technologies in one area. The three parks will be a part of the first Greening Camp which is planned for the region of Leipzig in Saxony, Germany. During the years the founder and initiator Oliver Caplikas worked also on preparations for greening camps in North Africa and MENA region. Each bigger camp can have a energy storage park, solar park and wind park. The nations and regions who support the fastest and the most (constructive and financial) will be the first to get such facilities.

Greening Deserts projects are cultural, educational, economic, social, scientific and sustainable projects in the field of horticulture, hydroculture, sustainable forestry and agriculture – but also in the fields of clean technology (CleanTech), GreenTech and renewable energy such as solar, water and wind energy. Electricity access, availability and reliability together with energy efficiency will be optimized at the greening and research camps. The focus is on education and research. Conservation and environmental protection plays a very important role. Main goals of the projects are to reduce desertification, pollution and global warming in a large scale. Goals are also to improve the energy and food security, to offer innovative management, ecosystem and greening services. We want to reform the agriculture and forestry with ecofarming and ecoforestry. The projects can include each region and nation in the process, especially in relation to cleantech, environmental, infrastructure and sustainable investments – Green Finance and Sustainable Finance.

It’s a real chance for the world, especially for Africa and Europe to reach the Climate Goals and Sustainable Development Goals together with Greening Deserts international and innovative developments. The future vision is to establish a Greening Campus for each nation and several camps for all regions who need ecological and sustainable development services. In this relation these Sustainable Development Goals are very important for us:

SDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

SDG 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.

SDG 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

World Water Day and Water Quality in Germany

Today is World Water Day! More than 1 billion people around the world have no access to safe water. Over 2 million people die each year because of unsafe water. Care about and don’t waste water. Never forget clean air, food and water are Human Rights, as well as a healthy environment. #WorldWaterDay

Greening Deserts are economical, educational, cultural, social, scientific and sustainable projects to reduce desertification and global warming. We will use filtered ocean, sea, lake or river water for sustainable irrigation and water sharing systems overground and underground. Greening Deserts projects will produce different kinds of water like process water, drinking water and fresh water.

Greening Deserts projects want to develop, reseach and work on better water processing and water management methods. We will use advanced aquaponics and hydropnics techniques. After some applications for fundings or financial support and after informing responsible German institutions like Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) we still havn’t got any support – just excuses and promises. The ignorance of the responsibles in Germany is unacceptable. Since autumn last year we informed most of the German parties and responsible authorities, institutions and organisations that we need help and financial support. In some cases we waited over an month, got no answer or just automated e-mail answering, although we informed them many times by email and got receipts – so we know that the most got the information and requests.

The ecological status of German waters is 70 percent bad, 65 percent of the wetland habitats are in acute danger, reports the Global Nature Fund. The foundation also gives a bad prognosis for the future. Entries from agriculture and human use are, according to a recent report, the main causes of poor water quality; Micropollutants caused by drugs, hormones and microplastics would bring further risks. https://wasser-abwasser-technik.com/besorgnis-ueber-zustand-der-gewaesser-in-deutschland

Greening Deserts Master Plan Business Plan and Finance Plan for the Coal Exit

The new Master Plan, Business Plan and Financial Plan for the Greening Deserts projects is ready after months of work. A first draft of the master plan and financial plan (budget) was pre-released in October, the complete business plan in December 2017. Both current versions in German can be downloaded here or in the download area. The professional translation into English was not possible due to other important work or projects, also because special variants of the business plan for Germany and a startup competition of start2grow were made and sent there. In the next few days, a general public version of the business plan will be put online.

Here is a short excerpt:

The first greening camp (pilot project) is planned for the opencast mining area in the Leipzig region (Lakeland) in Saxony. Preferred land or terrain are located at the Cospudener-, Markkleeberger- and Zwenkauer See. However, the project can also be realized in other opencast mining regions. Alternative locations can also be found outside of open-pit landscapes. Terrains at waters, such as rivers, lakes and seas are always prefered. Dune, coastal, field and desert research are primary fields of science. Equally important is the research and development of sustainable greening methods, greenhouse management, forestry, agriculture and cultural economy in conjunction with the sciences.

The first greening and research camp with greenhouse, office and laboratory container(s) or tents should be a central meeting place and research station for all the topics and areas mentioned. Interesting insights and developments are shared with institutions and partners and published when needed. With interested and competent persons, organisations or bodies will be communicated during the project.

Communication, exchange of experience and knowledge as well as good management of innovation and knowledge are important areas for the future. The Change-, Compliance-, Decision-Making-, Risk- and Project Management plays also an important role (partly also in the initial phase). The management instruments and the organizational structure will be adjusted accordingly. With sufficient financial resources, a financial manager (alternatively CFO) and project manager will be hired as soon as possible. The tasks of the CEO as well as CTO can be taken by the founder of Greening Deserts. Extensive information is available especially in the areas of development, management, risk analysis and finance. In order to mitigate or prevent most risks from the outset, the best possible risk spreading will be established. For particularly important areas there are alternative solutions and plans.

For the company it is important to create a balanced working environment and working methods. A positive working environment, a pleasant atmosphere and relaxed interaction are fundamental principles. It is planned to work sustainable and forward-looking or proactive manner. This corporate culture should also be carried out to the world.

With serious interest in cooperations or partnerships and after concluded cooperation agreement (alternatively CDA and LoI) the current business plan, financial plan and many interesting annexes can be sent also in English. The general concept (master plans) and the business plan are constantly being developed. The internal version will not be published or otherwise published and only will be made available to future partners if there is genuine interest in collaborations or meaningful cooperations. It is a living business and master plan that is constantly expanding, improving, simplifying and evolving.

The projects can start also in countries that invest first in a big Greening Deserts camp. The time to invest is now! Help us to reduce global warming and negative human-made climate changes on a global scale.

Here is a shortened version, the first pages of the German Business Plan.

Climate Protection, Extreme Weather and Civil Protection Through Preventive Greening

The Greening Deserts greening projects and research camps also develop and conduct research in the climate and weather sector. Effective methods and measures for climate and disaster control are and will be researched and developed. Below are a few approaches and ideas listed.

  • Relief and prevention in case of extreme weather catastrophes, better ground protection against erosion and landslides, especially flood disasters
  • Reduce the risk of flooding by planted areas or soils as they are better able to absorb water, drain more quickly and can store more water overall
  • Flood protection and prevention in extreme weather conditions by protective walls of flexible and robust trees and shrubs, which can intercept or dampen also strong winds and extreme storms (storm surges, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.)
  • Improvement of flood retention and flood relief through large-scale greening and forest cover

A definition for flood protection according to DIN 4047:

“All the measures of watercourse development through water regulations and regulation, flood retention and / or structural alteration to the structures and facilities to be protected, which serve to reduce the flood area, lower the flood level and / or encourage flood discharge.”

A continuous discussion of the conflicts between the recreational and / or use forms and nature conservation is sought, also during the operation of projects and ventures in Post-Mining Landscapes. This serves the smooth running on all sides, the improvement of synergies and the avoidance of errors and duplicates or really unnecessary work. Ignorance should be avoided and communication promoted, especially in today’s times. This applies to all participants or agents in the region of the respective surface mining areas. The possibilities and potential of transparent working in mining landscapes are also important, as a result of which the overall image of the mining industry and the respective regions can be considerably improved. It also promotes awareness of nature conservation and positive change in the society.

It is also important to observe and comply with provisions, laws, regulations, guidelines and values for nature conservation in connection with or in relation to sustainable tourism, leisure and recreational use in mining landscape. Minimizing conflict potential and risks in this regard must be a task and in the interests of everyone, and extensive risk management for the region should be sought from all sources. Therefore, with this work and this concept is called to participate, to contribute ideas and suggestions. This can be done via the public pages or channels and by the official contact information.

Greening Deserts Projects Want to Plant over 100 Billion Trees Worldwide

One goal of Greening Deserts projects is to plant over 100 billion trees worldwide, especially in Europe and Africa during the next years. Together with the nations and awesome projects like the Great Green Wall, Great Green Wall North Africa, The Green Belt Movement and the Trillion Trees Campaign we can reach the goal fast and efficient.
Alone the Sahara is an area of 9,500,000 square kilometres, this is equal 950,000,000 ha (950 million hectares). If we plant trees just on 10% of this area we could convert 95 million hectares dry and barren wasteland into fertile landscapes. We want to establish greening camps and connect schools, universities and other institutions to the Greening Deserts projects and partner programs. A broad education and culture is very important for the projects. With active participation and real support of the concerned regions and financial help of all nations and goverments we can start with first preperations still this year and in 2018 on site – and see first results still that year. With our worldwide greening and forestation (afforestation and reforestation) projects we can reduce global warming significantly. To cool down cities and urban areas (Global Cooling), more parks and green roofs (rooftop greening) are required.

Greening Deserts founders started the project ‘Trillion Trees Initaitive‘ to show some support for all the people and organisations who planting trees around the world.
